Anoushka is a freelance designer maker working across disciplines. Recently graduating from her MA in Material Futures she has a concern for materiality, using this as a tool to navigate the environment she’s working with.
She is currently developing Project Fish – seeking to produce a material of value and worth from an otherwise wasted resource by tanning fish skin. This project links to her love of leatherwork and her need to understand our wastefulness and try to propose an alternative option.
Her most recent set of illustrations, Project Fish Prints was born from a love of drawing and doodling. She finds calm in illustrating and documenting the British sea life she’s working with. As the project continues her fishy print collection will grow, creating a library of drawings and illustrations of the natural life living in our seas.
Friends showed me Brockley a few years ago and straight away I knew it was where I wanted to live. Being a country bumpkin at heart I love the fact the area combines urban London and greenery. I love the atmosphere and artistic community. Favourites places to visit include the Talbot pub, Brockley Market, Jam Circus pub, Rivoli Ballroom, Hilly Fields and of course our close neighbour New Cross.
