This is an original illustrated map of Brockley, inspired by decorative antique map prints and the designs of MacDonald Gill (1884-1947). The map is entirely hand-drawn and digitally coloured by the artist.
The illustrations at the edges depict various local landmarks. At bottom left is the Brockley Jack pub on Brockley Road; at bottom right is the church of St Andrew; and at top right is a view of the stone circle in Hilly Fields. The border decoration is inspired by Victorian window frame designs and further references the architectural heritage of the neighbourhood. The map covers an area slightly larger than the SE4 postcode, with parts of Deptford, Ladywell, Lewisham and New Cross included.
